The Raleigh School
The Raleigh School is a cooperative community of children, parents, and teachers that fosters a love of learning in an atmosphere of challenge, inquiry, and respect.
Preschool teachers at The Raleigh School are responsible for creating a warm and nurturing environment for children that promotes each child’s individual development while also fostering a caring class community. The lead preschool teacher must have a strong understanding of child development and a commitment to developmentally appropriate practice. Must also have the ability to create and implement age appropriate, play-based curriculum that incorporates children’s emergent interests both in the classroom and outdoors on our naturalized playgrounds and in the woods. As our preschool is parent-participatory, lead teachers must be comfortable working together with parents in the classroom on a daily basis while providing guidance, support, and direction to parents in their role as helping parents.
Qualifications: Preschool lead teachers must have a Bachelor’s (preferred) or Associate’s (minimum) degree in Early Childhood Education, or an equivalent degree or certification, as defined by the NAEYC accreditation standard. In addition, preschool teachers must have appropriate prior experience as an early childhood educator, preferably in a NAEYC accredited school.
